Selected Experiences

Below is a brief overview of my journey through business, data analytics, and strategy starting from college. Visit my LinkedIn for a more in-depth view of my professional career.

  • 2013 | Freshmen Year: Started off by learning the fundamentals of business, marketing and sales. Created Mustang Consulting out of frustration with the lack of pace in my learning.
  • 2014 | Sophomore year: Dove deeper into finance and strategy as topics like M&A and Software Valuations piqued my interests. Self-taught myself finance concepts and completed complex projects in Excel.
  • 2015 | Junior Year: Become more technology and data focused through academics, hackathons, and side projects. Gained experience in business process design, data visualization, and business operations. Learned SQL, SAS, R, and Tableau.
  • 2016 | Senior Year: Actively taking a role of mentorship on campus. Advising Mustang Consulting as new leadership continues the mission of student empowerment. Driven to become an Strategy Analyst.

FOUNDER, MUSTANG CONSULTING (May 2014 - June 2017)

  • Created Cal Poly's student-run, pro-bono consulting group that is fully funded by the College of Business. Actively led, mentored, taught, and inspired 25+ students.
  • Conducted Marketing/Sales, Data Analytics, Business Expansion and User Research projects in 16+ engagements for clients like MINDBODY, City of SLO, and RaceSLO. Selected experiences below:
    • Performed expansion research for MINDBODY, Inc. by identifying the TAM of 200,000+ businesses and evaluating 50+ API and Marketing partnerships across 3 countries

    • Aided San Luis Obispo’s Data Portal project by identifying the top 20 demanded datasets (ex. Budget Expenditures, Homeless %) out of 250+ datasets through county resident surveys and market analyses

  • Personally sourced 40% of clients through cold pitches, partnerships, or internal brand
 

Technology Consulting Intern, Deloitte CONSULTING (Summer 2016)

  • Created Marketing, Sales, and Data Migration process flows for a SaaS Transformation project (Fortune 50 Tech)
  • Facilitated 50+ client workshops leading to successful Phase 2 progression
 

2nd Place, ASA DATAFEST @ UCLA (SPRING 2016)

  • Using SAS, R, and Tableau, we built a pricing model that identified the U.S. counties where Ticketmaster was underpricing/overpricing per a set of localization factors
  • Recommended the appropriate location premiums/discounts that would properly stimulate demand & profit
  • Awarded 2nd Place in the External Data Category at UCLA Datafest 2016
 

Corporate Development Intern, Blue Shield of California (Summer 2015)

  • Focused on current and potential M&A activity, valuation analyses of health products, and research for strategic acquisitions.
  • Developed Healthcare industry M&A activity and CA/national membership landscaping reports leading to increased visibility for the CorpDev team & Executive Leadership (CFO, CEO, Board of Directors)
  • Created market share analyses, divestiture capitalization models, and valuation models generating a better understanding of opportunities and threats.

PE/VC Valuations Intern, PwC (Winter 2015)

  • Applied various valuation methodologies (OPM, PWERM, Transactional/Market Comparables, etc..) to value & review valuations.
  • Selected to be part of the 1st intern class of PwC's new Private Equity Venture Capital Group (PEVC) under the Transaction Services Department.
  • Chosen to be part of PwC's Intern Shadow Experience under Mrs. Katherine Treasure (PwC SF Tax Market Leader).
 

Marketing & Business Development Intern, Rezolt (Summer 2014)

  • Redesigned company logo, 4+ product brochures, & 6 press releases, using Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, and InDesign
  • Managed off-site developer alone to re-create company website within 2 months
  • Conducted market segmentation on 100+ potential partners and competitors in the IoT asset management
